What are you a fool for?

Call me a fool for believing in God. Somewhere in the Bible it says something like a fool admits that there is no God. I would really like to be better with addresses in scripture but that discussion is for another time. Either way, it says something to that effect and to those who don’t believe in God, forgive me for knowing this to be true. Yes, I’m starting with an insult. It also says (I know this is in the New Testament) that folks willfully exchange the truth (of God) for their sinful ways. So, if I’m inferring correctly, most, if not all, by the time we die know that there is a God but foolishly deny Him so we can do what we want.
There are many places (online and otherwise) to find explanations and theories to prove and disprove the existence of God. Enjoy the research. I’m not that much of a theologian to argue my belief, mostly because I do not believe you can “argue” anyone into anything. Maybe I’m just lazy, or I trust God to handle putting all the details together for His Chosen. I do know that the Bible also says in one of the Peter books that God wants everyone to be saved. So no matter what you’ve done, there is forgiveness with God. My best argument for non-believers I come across is my own prayer for them. My second best argument is my behavior. I shouldn’t give Christians a bad name. The Bible says that believers are not to judge unbelievers. We all sin and yours is no greater or worse than mine.
I have heard the argument from non-believers that it is dangerous to share an unprovable concept of God with children or others because you are guiding them down a path that may be false; hindering a young and naive child/person. Duh, what are you doing on the other side? Evolving basically starts with a lot of rain falling on rocks and some lightning or something starting life a long time ago. Another of my favorite non-God theories is that aliens brought life to earth. Granted, I know I can’t prove my faith but, I’d like to hear reasonable and more complete explanations for these two. Science hasn’t really completed that yet. They both need a leap of faith to believe, which makes them a religion. I’ve looked into both and personally haven’t seen a need to believe in either. Another thing that amazes me most is that even though non-believers say the Bible is not “God’s Word,” and that it was written by men, more and more evidence comes out that proves what is in the Book is true. I have yet to come across an article or video that proves something in the Bible is not true. It’s usually someone’s opinion about what they don’t believe, with little fact or science to back them up. But science, and archeology has consistently exposed Bible facts that more fully demonstrate the existence of God, from His Word. If that past thought means much to you, look it up, the truth is out there. If I can use a sci-fi quote.
The Bible says somewhere that even the rocks and trees will praise Him. I get the trees as they are majestic and change each season to this stunning display of color before they begin again next season. This demonstrates a beautiful and imaginative creator. But, rocks? When we were in Israel a few years ago, we were touring and came across a rock with the name, “Pontius Pilate,” inscribed on it. It also said something about Judea too. I remember, as a child, people saying that there was no such person as Pilate in history that the Bible talks about. Well, this rock was crying out saying, “Here is an inscription from scripture from a point in history, directing us to the truth of God’s Word.” To my knowledge, nothing has proven that rock to be false.
The State of Israel is another “proof of God.” No one nation has been maligned, hated or killed for so long; dispersed and kept their identity over centuries, only to return to their God given promised land in the mid-1900’s. I believe that those who do not like Israel willfully choose to not believe in God and are doing what they can to eliminate Israel because if they are gone, there is no God. But you see, that belief requires work to make it true. Believers know that’s a little like living by the law. You can’t. Which is why we need a change of heart, which happens when you believe in Jesus taking the penalty for your sins when he was on the cross. When I pray for someone, I don’t want anything but their good. So how can someone who wants another discredited or removed through their efforts want or believe anything eternally good? Or, are they just selfishly denying?
My big question for those who don’t believe in God is, “What are you a fool for?” If we Christians are wrong, it’s no big deal. We just live with hope. But, to paraphrase CS Lewis, “If you (non-believer) are wrong, it’s a very big deal.” And, how do you live? I admit that even though I achieved good grades in school, I know little, to nothing. I would imagine most would state that they don’t know much as well, no matter how high their education or number of degrees. In fact, I believe that the more we learn the more readily we’ll admit the less we know. If we don’t know everything, we may not know about God. But, thankfully He’s told us all we need to know, in His Word. If God is, don’t you think He’d be able to communicate His thoughts through men, to write it down for us? Finally, if you don’t believe in God or His Word, and you’re a little beefed up now, why do you spend time arguing against it? If it really amounts to nothing, I would think it’s not worth your time. I don’t know about you but, I tend to ignore untruths. I am not afraid of them. Unless I deny them to get my way. Which would then make me a fool. But, I’m a fool for Christ. What are you a fool for?
